GLSEN's National Day of Silence

Clock In Logo.On April 25, 2008, thousands of students from around the country took a vow of silence for all or part of the school day in recognition and protest of the harassment and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth. This year, the Day of Silence was held in memory of Lawrence King, a fifteen-year-old California student who was murdered because of his sexual orientation and gender expression by a fourteen-year-old classmate on February 12, 2008.
