Support for Inclusion of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity or Expression in the Proposed Requirements to Advance Effective Communication, Cultural Competence, and Patient-Centered Care for the Hospital Accreditation Program

July 17, 2009 — Lambda Legal and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association submitted comments to The Joint Commission, the nation’s largest medical provider accreditation agency, offering empirical and legal support for standards proposed by The Joint Commission to require culturally competent medical care for LGBT people.
