Lambda Legal Staff Policy on Pronouns
Lambda Legal’s organizational communications guidelines include the option for staff to designate in their email electronic signatures the personal pronouns that they use.
Put simply, identity is important to us. One cannot always tell what pronouns an individual uses by making assumptions about a first name, or by hearing a person’s voice.
Staff members may choose to designate pronouns to avoid misgendering and to give visibility to the idea that all gender identities are valid and deserving of respect.
This idea is vital to the work we do on behalf of our clients who are transgender and our clients who have non-binary gender identities, and is part of the respect we seek to accord to all people.
