Lambda Legal is committed to maintaining the privacy and personal information gathered from our members and those who visit us at www.lambdalegal.org. As the protection of your privacy is important to us, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about what information you give us and the way that information is used.

You do not have to share any personal information to use the Lambda Legal website, and we do not collect personally identifiable information without your permission. We do at times link to other websites, and Lambda Legal cannot control and is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of those sites.

The kind of personally identifiable information we do collect

Lambda Legal collects the following types of personal information on  our website:

  • Profession
  • Spouse/partner’s profession

  • Areas of personal interest

We also partner with Microsoft Clarity and Microsoft Advertising to capture how you use and interact with our website through behavioral metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve our content and user experience. Website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of content and online activity. Additionally, we use this information for site optimization, fraud/security purposes, and advertising. How we use the information you provide when you become a member of Lambda Legal or sign up for one of our public education campaigns

We gather contact information when you contribute to Lambda Legal online or via mail or when you join us at a public event. We use this information to send you mail and email communications about Lambda Legal cases, campaigns and publications, local Lambda Legal activities, and upgrading or renewing your membership.

Lambda Legal also uses information gathered via the Lambda Legal website to improve our web-based services. Lambda Legal periodically performs statistical analyses of aggregate user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of various areas on our website and to use such information to improve on our website’s ability to serve you better.

Cookies: Lambda Legal uses cookies on some web pages. A cookie is a small piece of data stored on an End User’s hard drive but does not itself contain any personal information. Cookies enhance an End User’s experience by saving the End User from having to log in or provide information each time they re-visit a Lambda Legal web page and by customizing content based on an End User’s interests. How you receive emails from Lambda Legal

You will only receive emails from us if you have a) provided your email address when signing up for membership or b) you have signed up to receive Lambda Legal’s newsletters online, through a mailing or brochure, at an event, or through some other venue.

Other than your name and postal mailing address, none of the information you provide via our website (including your email address) is shared with other organizations or parties. From time to time, Lambda Legal may exchange the names and mailing addresses of our members with other like-minded organizations. If you prefer your name and address not be shared with other organizations, please email members@lambdalegal.org and request we not share any of your information.

In order to provide you with better and more relevant information, we compile information about email response and website usage. This information helps us to better understand our members’ site usage patterns and also what types of content and information may help improve your user experience on the Lambda Legal website.

All emails sent contain a link to unsubscribe.

 

How you can access or correct your information

You can access and correct all your personally identifiable information that we collect online. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections. How we protect your personal and financial information

Lambda Legal is extremely protective of the information gathered through its membership and website. Our website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, or alteration of the information under our control. Our web server is located in a locked, secure environment. All databases containing personal information are securely stored on a separate system that is not connected to the internet.

When you contribute to Lambda Legal online, we use a secure server and encryption to protect your financial and other personal information during transmission.

Lambda Legal does not specifically ask children under 18 for any information, and we do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information about them.
