Bill Lane

Bill Lane is the Northeast Regional Director on the Individual Philanthropy team at Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people, and everyone living with HIV.

Bill is a senior-level philanthropy, communications, and marketing leader with 15+ years of experience in the social impact sector. He has partnered with and advised leading philanthropists, foundations, and corporations across multiple continents to drive meaningful and community-centered change for marginalized and underserved populations. Through this work, Bill has helped mobilize more than $70 million to support social justice, human rights, global health, poverty alleviation, and humanitarian aid.

Before Lambda Legal, Bill was the Global Head of Individual Philanthropy at the International Planned Parenthood Federation, where he led private sector fundraising and communications efforts to scale IPPF’s programs to ensure a world where all people have access to sexual and reproductive care and can make informed choices about their sexuality and well-being, free from discrimination. Bill has also led global fundraising teams at several leading INGOs/NGOs, including roles as Head of Individual Philanthropy at Population Services International (PSI) and Director of Development at FINCA International (FINCA) and its European affiliate, FINCA UK. A native of South Carolina, Bill received his BA in Journalism from the University of South Carolina.
