Charlie Ferguson

Charlie Ferguson is the Daniel H. Renberg Legal Fellow at Lambda Legal, the oldest and largest national legal organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of LGBTQ+ people and those living with HIV/AIDS.

Prior to joining Lambda Legal, Ferguson clerked for the United States District Court, was the Director of an LGBTQ+ youth community center in their home of Brooklyn, NY, and served as the Vice President of Collegians for the National Council of Gamma Rho Lambda, an all-inclusive LGBTQ+ Greek organization. They published articles on transgender civil rights with the University of Pennsylvania Law Review and the Berkeley Journal of Gender, Law & Justice, and currently serve on the Board of Directors of the National Trans Bar Association.

Ferguson received their J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School as a Toll Public Interest Scholar, where they were an Executive Editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, the President of Penn Carey Law Lambda, and the Research Director for the Transgender Empowerment and Advocacy Pro Bono Project. For this work, the National LGBTQ+ Bar Association awarded Ferguson the Student Leadership Award, the bar association’s highest honor for law students. Ferguson also received an M.S. in Social Policy from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice, an M.A. in Gender Studies from the CUNY Graduate Center, and B.A.s from the University of Texas. Ferguson is a member of the state bar of New York.
