Following the years of escalating state-level attacks on LGBTQ+ people, the Trump administration launched a sweeping set of federal policies similarly targeting transgender people as well as people living with HIV, immigrants, reproductive health care, and racial justice initiatives. Lambda Legal opposed these attacks from Day One, including with 14 federal cases nationwide to block efforts to impose censorship and to erase protections in health care, social services, military service, immigration, family life, and nondiscrimination law. With an 86% success rate, these cases stopped many of the administration’s most harmful actions, built new partnerships, reaffirmed core legal protections, and helped persuade the new Biden administration to enact even better civil rights policies.
