Everyone deserves to be free from discrimination on the job.
In June 2020, the Supreme Court held in Bostock v. Clayton County that discrimination based on sexual orientation and transgender status is illegal—the result of decades of work by Lambda Legal and our partners. But members of our community continue to be fired, harassed, and targeted at work because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, or HIV status.
Well before the Bostock decision, and every day since, Lambda Legal’s Help Desk assists members of our community in combating discrimination in the workplace. Lambda Legal also remains focused on court cases that would undermine hard-won workplace protections, such as those enshrined in Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is imperative that the courts continue to recognize that LGBTQ+ workers and workers with HIV face discrimination and harassment that is unique to our communities.
