Meet Your Regional Director

Shelly L. Skeen (she/her)

South Central Regional Director
Dallas, TX

Shelly L. Skeen (she/her) is the South-Central Regional Director for Lambda Legal, where she also served as a Senior Attorney.  She is a seasoned litigator and an appellate practitioner who has appeared before US Supreme Court, the Texas Supreme Court and other state and federal courts across the country.  Ms. Skeen has worked with Transgender people across the country to ensure that they have identity documents that match who they are, is an adjunct professor at UT Law, and is a certified Queer and Trans Affirming Professional. Ms. Skeen has testified before the Texas Legislature in support of LGBTQ+ people and has recently served as counsel in Doe v. Abbott, PFLAG v. Abbott (to stop wrongful CPS investigations of parents supporting their transgender adolescents), Poe v. Drummond (to ensure healthcare for trans youth), Fowler v. Stitt (to ensure accurate identity documents for transgender people), and Wilkins v. Austin (to enable military service for people living with HIV).
